Appletell.com has a report indicating that the new MacBooks, using the upcoming Intel Montevina Centrino 2 processor will be delayed until late summer. Intel has trouble getting the chip passed by the FCC, it seems.

The new platform was to be rolled out by now. According to an Intel spokesman,

There were two minor issues we found during final testing – one with our integrated graphic chipsets, which we have found a workaround for but need to re-screen our parts, and second around our wireless WiFi chip, which was a paperwork and certification mistake we made.

The technologies in question are WiMAX and 802.11n.

The new MacBook will likely be delayed at least 30, more likely 60+ days. With a little luck, they will be available before the end of back-to-school shopping season.
