New 3G, GPS iPhone announced – Faster and Cheaper!

WWDC was in fact the platform for the big announcement. The rumor mill had it right, too. The new iPhone will work on Edge, WiFi and 3G networks, selecting the fastest network seamlessly. It will have built-in GPS. It will have a more robust battery. It will be $199 for the 8GB version, $299 for the 16GB.

Wow.

It’ll be available July 11, installed with the iPhone 2.0 Software available to the rest of us in early July.

It’s all on Apple’s iPhone page.

I now have to struggle with the concept of ditching my 6 month old iPhone, which works perfectly well, except that it isn’t the new one with the great new features. Poor me.
