iPod Touch gets better

Apple announced the new iPod Touch at it’s special event yesterday, and it looks great!

New Design

With a contoured form similar to the new iPhone, but with a polished stainless steel enclosure, the new iPod Touch is a thing of beauty. Apple’s put a built-in speaker, so you can hear music and dialogue without headphones. It remains to be seen how good the sound quality is, but it is a needed addition.

Volume controls are built into the case, on the left side, similar to the iPhone design.

Battery life is longer. Apple advertised 36 hours of audio usage, or 6 hours of video use on one charge.

The Touch also offers built-in wireless support for Nike + iPod. You insert the sensor into your shoe and start running.

With the same multi-touch features as the iPhone, the Touch is a great solution for anyone who wants everything BUT the phone. Pricing is a bit steep, at $229 for an 8 GB. $299 for the 16 GB model, and $399 for the top of the line 32 GB model. Without an AT&T subsidy helping keep the price down, as with the iPhone, the Touch is not a cheap date. It’s a pretty exciting one, tho.

What’s your take on the new touch?
