Apple has to make decisions that make sense for a giant corporation. OK, I get that. Still, Steve’s keynote addresses and Apple’s presence at Macworld have been the highlights of the year for a lot of us. Guess we better get over it. It could be worse. Apple Expo Paris has been canceled!
Apple doesn’t like tying it’s product releases to Macworld’s schedule. Understandable. We’d not have seen the poorly done release of MobileMe last January if it had not been tied to the Expo’s date. Come to think of it, when Apple released products in it’s own time, like the iMac upgrades and the recent MacBook/Pro models, it seems that there is a lot less uproar and confusion re: problems and issues.
All in all, maybe it’s a good thing that releases will be done in good time, instead of on time. Still, there is nothing like watching Steve Jobs unveil a world-shaker like the iPod, or the iPhone. And Apple at Macworld seems so… natural.
Sorry to see you go, Apple. Hope your health is good, Steve. We’ll miss you both next year.
