Vintage and Obsolete Products listed

Apple published a list yesterday of “Vintage and Obsolete” products.

Vintage products are items that are no longer supported, having been discontinued more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. Apple has discontinued hardware service on these products with the following exceptions:

Products purchased in the state of California, United States, as required by statute. Owners of these products may obtain service and parts from Apple Service Providers within the state of California, United States.

Obsolete products were discontinued more than seven years ago, and Apple discontinued hardware service for these products without exception. Service providers can’t order parts for obsolete products.

That said, there has always been a market for used and new discontinued Mac parts. Ebay and Craig’s List are good places to start, as is Google.

Asia-Pacific, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Latin America have their own Obsolete Products list. They make no distinction between vintage and obsolete… all are considered obsolete.
