Microsoft releases Office 2004/2008 updates

Microsoft released updates to Office for Mac 2004 and 2008, primarily to plug security holes in the program. The 2008 version should be more stable, as well, following the update.

The Open XML converter needed by 2004 users to read documents created by the latest versions of Office has been updated as well.

Back up your system before updating is always recommended. If you live by Office applications, this is a must. You shouldn’t have any problems with the update, but stuff happens, and it’s always better to be safe… A complete, restorable backup keeps you safe.
