This is the first of no doubt many posts on the subject of business and enterprise apps for the iPad. The possibilities are endless, it seems!
Citrix Receiver for iPad
Receiver for iPad is designed to help iPad users use their workplace applications online, and allows multitasking and supports Flash. The iPad itself does not currently support multitasking and is unlikely to ever support Flash.
From Citrix’s site:
The new Citrix Receiver for iPad app makes it easy for iPad owners to take their virtual office with them on the go. One simple touch gives iPad owners secure access to all of their corporate Windows applications and desktops, making it easy to work from anywhere, while still enjoying the great user experience
they bought an iPad for in the first place.Apps, Desktops & Docs From Anywhere. With simple, one-tap access, Citrix Receiver lets you easily access any Windows app, virtual desktop or document directly on your iPad instantly turning it into a powerful and portable business tool whether you access it over a 3G or Wifi network.
There are more features listed. If this looks like something for you, check it out.
The down-side, of course, is that you need internet access, and a reasonably fast one, or work could be a bit frustrating.
Citrix GoToMeeting
One of the most-used business and enterprise services, Citrix GoToMeeting is a great tool. Now you can use it on your iPad as well.
Collaboration with remote collegues in real time, presenting to sales and marketing audiences, demonstrations of products to prospects and customers are all great uses for GoToMeeting. For me, the ability to train clients and collegues is invaluable. Now I can do it with the iPad as well as on my Mac.
